Working From Home

Working From Home

Now that the Covid-19 pandemic has entered Saskatchewan, many people have found themselves having to work remotely from home. The big question for most people is how to be productive in this new environment. Here are 6 simple things to implement to help you make the most of your new home office.

1. No Pajamas!
Start your day off right by getting dressed and looking your best. Getting dressed helps to put you in the right frame of mind to begin a great workday.

2. Routine, Routine, Routine
Keep your daily routine in place, and now that you don't have to commute, consider adding something that would add more value to your day like a pre-morning stretch or meditation.

3. Set Work Hours
Build a work schedule and share with your family so that they know the part of the days that you need uninterrupted work time, like a meeting or an urgent call. Also, build in work breaks such a lunch, coffee, and maybe one or two opportunities to get up to stretch.

4. Make A Workspace
Take the time to build a workspace at home that allows you to be productive and can accommodate all your work needs. It is also essential to have your workspace separate from your home life, so you can shut off and focus on your family when the day is done.

5. Everyone Find A Buddy!
If you are used to working from the office, find a work colleague who can help keep you accountable. Check-ins may be in the morning and during one of your breaks. Simple questions like, "What are you working on today?" or "How are you this morning?" are a great way to check in with your work colleague.

6. Put On Your Shoes
Some days, working from home can be frustrating; maybe your laptop is not working, or your remote desktop won't connect. In those situations, it can be best to get out and do a quick walk to relieve stress and clear your mind.

Working from home may not be the best situation for everyone as we isolate to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic but follow these simple steps to make the most out of your new homework life.

Stay safe everyone, from all your friends at My Mutual Insurance.
