People First : On Purpose
“Look out for your little brother!” A sentence spoken in earnest by a mother. You may have heard this very thing, or something similar to it. And you would do as instructed. The same way you hold the door for the elderly, pick that kid first instead of last, and deliver a casserole to your new neighbors. It’s what you do.
Elevating those around you and choosing to help and serve. The principle of valuing a person and doing it intentionally is the heart beat of My Mutual’s mission statement. Insurance was founded on the principle of helping a neighbor in need. And we see no reason to change that.
If that doesn’t sound like an insurance company to you, you may be surprised to find out mutual’s are not like other insurance companies.
The idea of “People First: On Purpose” came from an intentional shift by the leadership team at My Mutual. The goal was to remain true to the origins of mutual insurance in which each policy holder is also an owner. With no shareholders demanding exemplary profits year over year, My Mutual can remain focused on bringing in the proper amount of premium to address their clients losses. This is one of many ways you are placed first on purpose.
The vision extends to the relationships between the business and its employees as well. When placing people first, My Mutual recognizes that each employee is a person too. My Mutual sees their employees as people with enormous potential amidst the everyday struggles and remains inclusive and flexible. This affability extends to the broker sales force as well as the contractors who do work for customers.
Elevating each other is rarely the easy thing to do, but it still remains the right thing to do. My Mutual continues to strive to do this every day. It’s who we are.
